Stories disguised
as content…

UGC by Jason Zheng, based in Cambridge.

Made to be watched
to the end.

Most people decide in the first second whether to keep watching. So the reason to stay comes first: a real problem, said plainly, before the product appears.

After that, the job is keeping them there. A new picture every couple of seconds, pauses trimmed to a breath, and nothing on screen that doesn’t move the story along. More people reach the end, and more of them save it.

  • Hook ratewho stays past 3 seconds
  • Holdaverage watch time
  • Completionby the time the product is subtly mentioned the 2nd time, we know it’s good
  • Saveswho wants it again

The work:

Giving Tuesday, the 1% match

“fundraising for a nonprofit can feel like lifting something heavy without anybody spotting you.”

A pain every fundraiser knows, said to camera before the brand appears. The facts sit on Givebutter’s real page, held steady. Voice only, cool daylight, true skin.

EP 002 · Codédex · 0:45 · TikTok

How they’re rewarded

“people behave as a function of how they are rewarded.”

An idiom I love, proved by a pile of laundry, then the turn: Codédex pays you back tonight with XP for every little thing, not a certificate in six months.

  • Hook: a real pain, on camera, in the first second
  • Story: the mess that proves it, shot in a real room
  • Product: one true feature, shown on its real screen
  • Proof: the brand’s own page, held steady, never invented
  • Ending: something kind enough to save

Each video follows the same five beats, so a viewer feels a person first and meets the product second.

The cut is tight, the voice is natural, and nothing on screen is there unless it carries the story.

Spec ads, made independently. Not sponsored by the brands shown. Work with me

So, ready for your brand’s story to land?

Let’s make it

Before anything ships, I ask…

  • Would someone on a phone notice anything but me talking?
  • Does this sound like me in the room?
  • Does this shot look like the same room as the last one?
  • Is every word the word I actually said?
  • Does it make you feel something before it tells you something?

Cambridge

I’m Jason, a new Northeastern grad. Before UGC, I spent years on the nonprofit side of fundraising, where I learned that people give to people, not to slides.

Now I make the videos I’d want to watch: short, honest, and edited until nothing gets between you and the person talking.
